Buying Drugs from an RX Pharmacy
What’s an RX pharmacy?

An RX pharmacy, as implied, is a pharmacy that specializes in selling only RX or prescription-only drugs. Many different forms of pharmacies started out shortly after the first pharmacy was brought online. Unlike land pharmacies, online pharmacies are more flexible. They can specialize on certain offerings, instead of being a full pharmacy that offers every kind of drug around. One of the special forms of pharmacies that made its way to the fore of online shopping is the prescription-only pharmacy. RX pharmacies require that before you buy medications from them, you have to present a valid prescription from a doctor. There are many different kinds of RX pharmacies. There are prescription pharmacies that only sell the medications upon presentation of a prescription. These are traditional and strictly legal pharmacies that stick to the sure and the safe. However, there are some online pharmacies that also offer free prescriptions in case you don’t have time to go to the doctor. There have recently been some controversies about the legality of this practice. A lot of people are concerned that online consultations and a brief look at a person’s medical background are not enough to check whether a prescription drug is truly safe for a person. Thus, the public is divided as to whether it is legal and acceptable to get prescriptions from online pharmacies. Even though this issue has not been resolved, a lot of pharmacies online offer free prescriptions by certified doctors that work with them. In buying from both the traditional and the riskier type of prescription pharmacy, there are certain risks that you have to face.

The risks in buying from a traditional RX pharmacy

A traditional RX pharmacy, as previously mentioned, is one that simply sells prescription medicines and asks for real doctor’s prescriptions from their customers. Their policy requires that the prescriptions be faxed or even mailed directly to them. These pharmacies are safer to work with, primarily because they simply act as the supplier of the prescription medicines. They are not the ones who tell you whether a prescription med is safe for you or not. They do not share any responsibility regarding your safe use of the drugs, and leaves that responsibility to the doctors who provide your prescriptions. Buying from these pharmacies, however, can still be pretty dangerous. First, there are a lot of prescription pharmacies out there. It is unavoidable that there are some online scammers that use the RX pharmacy excuse to try and scam money out of you. If you are not careful, you might fall for the ruse and be cheated out of your money. What’s worse is that you might be given fake medicines that can even harm you. Aside from online scammers, you also need to be careful when buying from prescription pharmacies because the drugs that you buy from them are, in themselves, already potentially dangerous. Make sure that you buy the right medicines. Beware of fakes. Make sure also that you order the pills with the right dosage. Ordering pills with dosages higher than what has been prescribed for you by your doctor can lead to an overdose, which can bring about harmful and even fatal side effects. But the good thing about buying from a traditional RX pharmacy is that you don’t have to doubt whether they are giving you a valid prescription or not.

The risks in buying from RX pharmacy with free prescription

As for the other type of prescription pharmacy, that which offers to give you a free prescription, there are higher risks involved. These pharmacies have their own licensed doctors working under them. When you want to buy a prescription medicine but don’t have time to go to a doctor, they will ask you to present your complete medical history and from that, will prescribe your desired drug for you. And since they are already also a pharmacy, they will already provide you with the meds you need. This may seem convenient. In fact, some pharmacies that work this way put in the prescription for free as an added incentive to buy from them. However, a lot of people in the medical field are concerned about this practice. The risk is that you cannot be too sure about the prescriptions they provide you with. Regardless of whether they have the best of intentions to help you obtain your medicines fast and cheap, a prescription over the Internet and based solely on your medical history might not be too accurate. Unfortunately, the ultimate cost is going to be your health, your lifestyle in the case of habit-forming drugs, and possibly even your life.

Buy from an RX pharmacy safely

There are lots of RX pharmacies online. To be safe, you should ask for a prescription from your doctor and buy from traditional pharmacies. If you need to do so, you can try prescribing pharmacies, but be aware of the risks you are facing.
